Refunds
How to refund a buyer, what happens to their access, and how the money gets back to them.
You're the seller, so you decide your refund policy. Write it on each product (the Refund policy field) so buyers see it before they pay.
How to refund an order
- Open Orders and click the order.
- In the Refund card enter an amount (leave it blank for a full refund) and a reason.
- Press Refund and confirm. This can't be undone.
The refund is sent through the same Razorpay account that took the payment, and the buyer gets a "Your refund has been processed" email.
What happens to access
- A full refund revokes the buyer's download links and course or membership access.
- A partial refund keeps their access.
- If the order came through an affiliate, their commission is reversed automatically.
When does the buyer see the money?
Razorpay processes the refund and the buyer's bank or card issuer credits it. How long that takes depends on the payment method and the bank. Your Razorpay dashboard shows each refund's status and its bank reference number, which you can share with the buyer if they ask.
Disputes and chargebacks
If a buyer disputes a payment with their bank, Razorpay tells us through the webhook and the order is marked disputed. Respond to the dispute in your Razorpay dashboard with proof of delivery — the order page in YourBio shows when access was delivered.
Good to know
- Your Razorpay account needs enough balance to cover refunds; Razorpay explains how it handles refunds when the balance is low.
- If you've disconnected Razorpay, refund older orders directly in the Razorpay dashboard.
If not, tell us what you were trying to do.
